About ReWool Fabrics
Advancing Wool for a Circular Future
ReWool Fabrics is a Norwegian materials technology company with the ambition to develop new and more circular ways of utilising wool.
Wool is a renewable and versatile natural fibre with unique properties and strong traditions in Norway and the Nordic region. At the same time, significant volumes of lower-grade wool, production waste and used wool textiles are not utilised to their full potential. Valuable fibres may end up in lower-value applications or be lost because today’s value chains lack efficient solutions for classification, sorting, recycling, documentation and further processing.
ReWool Fabrics aims to help make more wool a valuable raw material – again and again.
We operate at the intersection of wool, materials technology, research and development, fibre-to-fibre recycling and the circular economy. Our goal is to develop knowledge, processes and technologies that make it possible to identify and classify different wool streams, preserve fibre quality and return these materials to new products and applications.
The core of ReWool is therefore not one single product or recycling technology. We aim to build a technology and competence platform for circular wool materials, integrating raw-material knowledge, fibre classification, gentle processing, material development, testing, traceability and industrialisation.
From raw material to new applications
We intend to work with several types of wool-based raw materials, including lower-grade wool, surplus materials and production offcuts, as well as used wool textiles that are no longer suitable for reuse.
Our ambition is to create the highest possible new value from each fibre. Where textiles can still be used, reuse and extended product life should come first. When material recycling is the appropriate solution, we aim to develop fibre-to-fibre pathways and other high-value applications that can bring wool fibres back into new material cycles.
An important part of our R&D work is also to explore how the properties of wool can be further developed. This includes investigating new processes, material combinations and textile constructions that may make wool softer, more versatile and relevant for a wider range of products and markets, while retaining the qualities that make wool such a unique natural fibre.
Building through collaboration
The development of future circular textile materials requires cooperation across traditional value chains.
ReWool will therefore be developed in collaboration with wool producers, collection and recycling organisations, research and technology environments, spinners, weavers, knitters, textile manufacturers, brands and industrial customers.
We are building the company from a Norwegian base with a clear Nordic ambition, while also seeking cooperation with relevant research, technology and industrial partners across Europe.
ReWool is currently in an
R&D and development phase. We are building our knowledge base, developing partnerships, mapping raw-material streams and preparing research, development and pilot projects that will form the foundation for future industrialisation and commercialisation.
Our long-term ambition is clear:
To build a scalable technology and competence platform that contributes to a more circular, knowledge-based and value-creating wool and textile industry – from raw material and fibre to new, market-ready applications.
